Turbulent first week in the NCAA Tournament
It was a disruptive week for all teams involved in the NCAA tournament. The semis are knocking, and the teams involved are not exactly what we expected in keeping with the seeding system. Marshall lost out to fifth seed West Virginia 94-71 in an East region game on Sunday. Marshall will play number one seed Vilanova in the first of the semi-finals while the other game will be between second seeded Purdue and third seeded Texas Tech. Kansas in the Mid will face fifth seed Clemson while the second semi-finals will be between second seed Duke and the eleventh seed Syracuse. The West has only the Michigan Wolverines their third seed as the highest team remaining in the competition. They will face seventh seeded Texas A&M in one of the semi-finals. The other will be between fourth seeded Gonzaga and ninth seeded Florida State. The South though is a complete mess with their fifth seed Kentucky being the highest team present in the competition facing ninth seeded Kansas State while seventh seed Nevada takes on eleventh seed Loyola-Chicago.
Cavaliers post another victory over Chicago Bulls
Cleveland Cavaliers were on a roll winning another matchup against the Chicago Bulls. They won 114-109 and LeBron James was instrumental in that win posting a phenomenal performance with 33 points,12 assists and 12 rebounds. On the other hand, a severely depleted Golden State Warriors side defeated the Phoenix Suns 124-109. LeBron notched his 70thcareer triple double thus joining a small group of players in NBA history who have achieved the feat. He has 15 triple-doubles this season and is the sixth player to have crossed the “70” mark. The Cavaliers held off a late surge by the hosts in the second rally based on LeBron James’s performance. The only other players who are part of the elite few are Oscar Robertson (181), Magic Johnson (138), Jason Kidd (107), Russell Westbrook (101) and Wilt Chamberlain (78). Jeff Green, Jordan Clarkson and Ante Zizic also scored 21,19 and 14 respectively on road to their win.
Rondo gives scathing reply to Ray Allen’s book excerpts
It has already been established that Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen are not the best of friends. They have not been on good terms since their days as teammates. It is not unlikely for star players of the same team to be opposed to one another and this could have been written off as one of those cases but for recent developments. Ray Allen’s new book containing a significant amount of Rondo criticism was published recently and excerpts from the book was taken up by the media and to which Rondo gave scathing replies saying that Allen was just an attention seeker and that this was all a publicity stunt on his part to increase the sale of his book.
