The basketball final in the Rio Olympics 2016 attracted a lot of viewers. This was USA’s last medal in the event. The result came as no surprise as the star-studded American team beat the Serbian team in the final comprehensively. The Serbian team didn’t have an answer to the attacking technique of the American team. With a victory, the Americans keenly extended their winning streak in the Olympics to 52 games which is quite an achievement.

The Serbians didn’t have a scorer reach double-figures till late in the fourth quarter. That performance had come as a surprise, as the same Serbian team gave a really tough competition to the Americans in an earlier group stage match with a score of 91 to 94. This had nothing to match within this game as the scoreboard read 96 to 66 in favour of the USA.

America’s Durant alone scored almost half the points that the whole Serbian team did. He top scored with 30. It seemed like more of a Durant vs Serbia match as Durant had 24 points by half-time, five less than Serbia as the scoreboard read 52 to 29.

Not to forget, America had only a 4 point lead at the end of the first half. However, it was a comprehensive show from the Americans to seal the victory without much resistance. Serbian team are choking under pressure which only added to the ease of the Americans to win their 52nd basketball game at the Olympics.
